Fine and Dandy

It's been so long since my last post! Life has been very hectic lately. I received a promotion at work, so I'm now the manager of the restaurant! It's been a really big change, both in terms of hours I work and amount of stress. It's been making time to take photos for the blog especially hard, but I'm really working on settling into a routine so I can fit in the things I love with the things I have to do (work!)

So for right now all I have are these kind of boring inside outfit pictures. I do love this outfit though, it's one I wear quite frequently. It's perfect for winter as it has lots of cozy layers! It also looks really cute with these amazing vintage feather hats I found two weekends ago:

Columns

What a lovely day this was! Rocking my new haircut, my new favorite vintage sweater, and exploring this beautiful architecture...

Now I'm stuck at home staring down two days of double shifts and pouring rain, but at least I have these photos to remind me of how much fun we had.

Yesterday Michael and I discovered a new park which turned out to be the most amazing place we've yet found. It has everything you could want! High, rocky cliffs to explore, both at the top and the bottom, a river, forests, and lovely walking bridges! We just happened to stop there for some outfit pictures and ended up exploring for almost an hour and a half, up until it became too dark. We loved it so much we're planning to spend the whole day exploring there today.

I've had a very lucky streak lately, actually. These glasses arrived from Coastal (I got them as a part of their first-pair-free deal) and looked so much cuter than my other glasses! I just couldn't get used to those big round frames, they didn't quite feel like me. These however fit me perfectly. I followed that lucky buy up with a chance stop at an estate sale that yielded this gorgeous blouse as well as this perfectly mod looking velvet belt. I also scored one in my current obsession color, forest green! I hope by reading this some of my luck will rub off on you! <3

Buttercup, Baby

This lovely vintage dress is a very recent antique store find! I fell in love with the color and print even though I wasn't sure it was my size (no dressing rooms in this antique store!) and lo and behold it fits like a glove! I'd like to do a few alterations to the top of the dress to make it a bit more current, but for now this sweater I thrifted a while back does the job very nicely. It was perfect for a bit of winter frolicking (or looking like I was frolicking even though I was freezing my patootie off!)

Reminds Me of the Sea

I've had this vintage dress for a very long time. I love it for a lot of reasons, one being that the colors remind me of the ocean...a love that I saw only briefly then left behind.

Winter Sunset

For a while I really fell out of buying and wearing vintage. Now I'm really eager to get back to collecting, which prompted me to buy this gorgeous floral dress. I was a little unsure about it at first, but after wearing it a few times I'm really in love. The empire waist is pretty different from most of my other dresses and the florals have easy colors to match.

Tomorrow is my husband's first full day off with nothing to do in a very long time! He's got a really fun day planned for us and I can't wait! I think I'm going to give photo-an-hour a try...I really love reading other bloggers' versions of that post so I think it might be fun!

Whatever you are, make it real

Sometimes when you get dressed what you've chosen feels so perfectly you ... and you just feel good all day. This was one of those days. :)

And for fun, here's what this skirt looked like before I fixed it!

I love the plaid so much, but it was like...ridiculously long, even for me (I generally don't mind longer skirts!) I was so desperate to wear it that I busted out my arch nemesis...the sewing machine! And wouldn't you know it, I actually had fun. So I'm sure that thing will be seeing the outside of the closet much more.

See you soon!

Colors of the Past

I've had this vintage dress for a while now and although I love the shape and color I don't wear it very often. It seems a little too fancy for daytime wear and I rarely go somewhere that requires dressing up so it just languishes in my closet. But yesterday it had it's day when I wore it to an early Christmas party and I'm still just as in love with it as I was when I bought it!

See you soon! <3
