The Curious and Quirky Christmas Wishlist

Christmas is growing ever nearer and even though all my presents are purchased and it might be just a little bit too late, I still wanted to compile a weird and wonderful wishlist to share with you! I hope my strange taste in collectibles doesn't deter you too much!

1 \\ Stonehill Design has a beautiful collection of apothecary jars and medical tools, but this set of pill bottles really struck my eye. I'd love to put the bottles on display!
2 \\ Love these animal anatomy pillows from Myrte Musee! I couldn't choose just one!

3 \\ These make your own butterfly terrarium kits are amazing. As someone just getting into butterfly collecting, this would be a beautiful way to start out before transitioning into preserving my own specimens! Find them at The Amateur Naturalist
4 \\ If I'm going to have taxidermy, I'd definitely want it to be an animal as interesting as the bat. Seriously fascinating creatures. From bonejewelry.

5 \\ This may seem a little weird, but I would love to have this 1800s hair locket! This type of piece and Victorian hair art in general are quite interesting. Wolf House Vintage.
6 \\ An insect preserved in amber from baltcoast. Combines two of my interests - minerals and insect specimens!

I hope everyone is finishing up their Christmas shopping without feeling too stressed about it...I waited a bit too long this year to get everything I needed online, so I had to make a last-minute-desperation shopping trip! Everything turned out okay though and I'm all done. Now all that's left is to enjoy the remainder of the season!!

It's All in the Details

I really enjoy decorating the house, giving everything a very personal feel. But since my husband and I have never settled in one place long enough to really devote time to a consistent scheme of decoration, I've only managed to design small little areas. Small as they are, I still love to see these carefully selected details every day because they remind me of different parts of our life together.

Our bedroom has a very definite "ocean" theme...I've decorated it in sea colors with plenty of things to remind us of our honeymoon in Maine, including my Maine glass buoy, our bottle of wedding night wine, and shells from the beach where we were married.

The Maine love carries over to the refrigerator as well!

One of my favorite quotes of all time, from On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

A painting I made a long time ago of a gloomy monster with sweet intentions.

My husband's beautiful post office box and acorn sculpture, along with my handsome beta fish, Tiny Iota!

I am a self-proclaimed M*A*S*H junkie! This is my very modest collection of memorabilia.

The most gorgeous perfume I've ever smelled.

And of course, Lucy couldn't be left out of a post about my favorite parts of my house! She is the sweetest kitty ever. The poor lady has been through a lot. She was found with an abscess on her rear leg that consumed her foot and spread up to her hips, requiring the amputation of the whole leg. Then later she was attacked by dogs and her other rear leg was torn up pretty badly. Most of the inner part of her foot and leg don't grow hair anymore and two of her toes are missing! Despite all that she is sweet, loving, and playful. My best friend!

Fantastic Finds

Etsy seller Silent Cheesecake has the most gorgeous collection of specimen jewelry I've yet to come across. I could easily buy one of everything in the shop! From top to bottom: Venus Flytrap with a Meal, Snake Ribs and Fern, and the gorgeous Sea Life necklace.

The Fox Bag from Sweet and Lovely is sold out, but I still love admiring it!

How cool is this praying mantis plate from Catherine Reece? Mantises are probably one of the coolest, weirdest bugs out there and hers are so cute!

Last but not least, dessert! I really want to wow my family at Thanksgiving with a to-die-for dish, so I've been on the lookout. This beautiful thing is from Mel's Kitchen Cafe, and I'm pretty sure the name "caramel apple cheesecake bars" speaks for itself!

On the Hunt

Today my husband and I spent most of the day in a marathon Etsy preparation session, taking pictures of all sorts of goodies for the shop! (all of which will hopefully be up very soon)

We needed a break midway through, so we headed down to the antique mall. I found all sorts of goodies to share with you...that place was seriously huge. There was no way I could have seen everything in just one quick trip!

How lovely is this little girl's dress?

Although I would have no use for it, this typewriter is stylin'.

A dreamy color combo for this dishware!

This box had moss and real tiny bird's eggs in little compartments!!! I wanted to buy it so badly, but it was 60 bucks!

Love this metal bed frame!

Most of the booths had one or two pieces of glassware in these styles, but then we found one that was the holy grail! It had zillions of these types of cups, pitchers, etc! I'd love to fill my kitchen with these.

Made of feathers! So cute!

Most of these lovelies didn't come home with us, since we're trying to save money. However, we did stumble upon something absolutely gorgeous that I couldn't live without!

It's a little birdcage music box! When you open the drawer, the bird swings back and forth and plays a little tune! I just love it so much, and we got an amazing deal on it because the dealer happened to be in the booth when we were looking. Twas truly an awesome antiques day.
