Making a lot of progress on my bone projects lately... these are some of the materials I'm working with.

Whatever you are, make it real

 Sometimes when you get dressed what you've chosen feels so perfectly you ... and you just feel good all day. This was one of those days. :)

And for fun, here's what this skirt looked like before I fixed it!

I love the plaid so much, but it was like...ridiculously long, even for me (I generally don't mind longer skirts!) I was so desperate to wear it that I busted out my arch nemesis...the sewing machine! And wouldn't you know it, I actually had fun. So I'm sure that thing will be seeing the outside of the closet much more.

Wednesday Nature Walk :: Golden

Yesterday's nature walk was a particularly beautiful one. We seem to have finally figured out the ideal time of day to take everything in and capture the best light. Earlier we'd found a new series of trails that has given us all sorts of new areas to explore, including a forest clearing, this large open prairie area, and a fast moving portion of the river. I can't wait to get photos of the other areas to show you! My favorite finds included some really cute bean pods, an area where a deer had rubbed many of the tree trunks smooth, and an empty bird's nest which I sadly forgot to photograph. It was definitely abandoned though, so we plucked it up and I've brought it home to display.

I leave you with a little sneak peek of tomorrow's outfit post. This gorgeous skirt is actually a refashion that I'm extremely happy with so it will be fun to show you the before/after!

The Air at Dusk

I was definitely tricked by the weather...we had our week of winter and now we're back up to spring temperatures. We're also fighting with daylight as we attempt to tune our schedules into the new time of sunset, thus these pictures turned out less than ideal. Although I did like something about shooting a little too late. Dusk is a wonderful time of day, very under appreciated. A whole different sort of light plays across everything, makes you see things in a whole new way.

Colors of the Past

I've had this vintage dress for a while now and although I love the shape and color I don't wear it very often. It seems a little too fancy for daytime wear and I rarely go somewhere that requires dressing up so it just languishes in my closet. But yesterday it had it's day when I wore it to an early Christmas party and I'm still just as in love with it as I was when I bought it!

Ornamental

Yay, December is finally here! Now I can begin to prepare for Christmas in earnest and people won't think I'm quite the huge Christmas nerd. I'm so excited about our Christmas tree this year. He's lumpy and lopsided and totally natural and I love him.

This was the ornament for our first kitty, Klaus, who sadly passed away last Christmas. <3

And our first Christmas together. 

 

Lucy the Christmas Kitty has been a little too excited about the tinsel on the tree...But my husband insisted we have it, so I'll be spending the holiday season following after her picking up the stray bits.
